Día De Los Muertos Famosos: Day Of Dead Celebrities

Posted in Celebrity Deaths, TV/Movies with tags , , , , on November 3, 2014 by Bob

Preface: I wrote this the other night before I got sick. Just realized now I never posted it. Still not feeling great so this is the best update I got.

Another twofer this time around. I make no apologies. I make no promises to get better at this time. I just hope you keep reading because I need to renew my domain in January and I would hate to waste it. Because if there is one thing you can count on is death and taxes … and me writing about death … eventually. Anyway, let’s bury this thing. The Hawks are on and this is hard enough without the distractions of a game.

Second To Last Post Of The Year

Posted in Nonsense with tags , , , , , , on December 30, 2011 by Bob

I have been trying to think of something outrageously spectacular for my last 2 blogs of the year, thus completing the post a day challenge for 2011. While I was doing this, I started to think to myself, “Self, do you really need to come up with something for the last 2 posts of the year, thus completing the post a day challenge for 2011?” Then a Lego commercial came on TV, I got distracted, forgot what I was thinking about and got up and made a sandwich. Now I am sitting here trying to think of something while the wife is watching Fashion Police. The scary part is, I am finding Joan Rivers actually amusing. None of this of course, has anything to do with my blog. In fact, I forgot what the hell I was actually going to write about tonight before I went off on my tangents that were supposed to make it seem like I was having a hard time coming up with something.

The new year is coming up. (smooth transition huh?) I have plans to have plenty of new ideas to try in the coming year. There will be a visit very soon of my first video starring my new Muppet. Granted, it will be a youtube video embedded in my post but still. There will also be plenty of updates on the baby that will be here in 2 AND A HALF MONTHS!!!! Holy crap! I just realized how soon the new baby is going to be here! Damn I have a lot of stuff to do! Ok, gotta go and get to bed so I can stress out about stuff tomorrow before we party for probably our last new years out for a while. But it will soooo be worth it in the years to come 🙂

Speaking Of Football, What Happened To Nerf?

Posted in Nonsense with tags , , , on February 6, 2011 by Bob

I figured since I am not a huge fan of the Super Bowl, that while the game is going on, I would write today’s entry between commercial breaks. I may have some thoughts on the game and the commercials tomorrow, I haven’t decided yet. Today however, I want to talk about some commercials that are already on. Nerf.
When I was growing up, you had Nerf footballs, Nerf basketball nets and the like. It was what every kid started his sports career with. They were safe and you rarely could break any furniture or windows. Maybe with the football. Plus, they were great things to bring into the pool and whip at someone you didn’t like much when the ball was waterlogged. But I digress.

Lately, all I have seen commercials for is Nerf branded high powered fire arms. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good dart gun as much as the next person however, I didn’t recall reading that Nerf was awarded a defense contract. The only Nerf commercials I have seen in the last few years have been for dart guns of one sort or another. Does Nerf even make other sports things anymore? Can you still buy a Nerf Football? I even have an old Nerf Boomerang. I should get that one out sometime.

Anyhoo, just wanted to ask that because I am going to have to go to sleep after the football game and I wanted to get something posted today.

The wife made an interesting and quite funny observation after the commercial for the next Fast and Furious movie. She said “oh geez another one? Before you know it they will be making Fast and Furious: The enema”. I almost had 7-up come out my nose.

Well, that’s it for now. I might have more Super Bowl related posting tomorrow as long as they don’t take any more clothes off of Joan Rivers and I become ill.

Until next time, remember … “Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning’s winning.”

Oscar Just Ain’t Some Muppet In A Garbage Can

Posted in Nonsense, TV/Movies, Wacky News with tags , , , , , on March 6, 2010 by Bob

In less than 24 hours, Hollywood will celebrate the best of the best, the cream of the crop, the best that the movie industry had to offer in 2009. The Oscars. Every year the academy gets together and nominates what they think are the best movies and who they think are the best actors. They also throw in all those technical categories as well. Every year there are some surprises, some not so surprises and some total disagreements. Every year, every critic tries to guess the winners. They pick long shots, sure bets and some even pick the long, long shots. Parties are thrown to watch the broadcast, which in itself is sometimes a long shot. I am not inviting you to an Oscar party. I am not going to give my Oscar picks. I am not going to even talk about the movies or actors that are nominated. What I AM going to do however; is give you what I think is needed. I am going to give you what I think Hollywood missed out on.

Without further adieu, below are some of the movies that I think Hollywood SHOULD have made that would have won Oscars.

Best Picture

Eight is Enough: The Movie

A touching story about a newly divorced couple, who while married couldn’t have children  They resorted to fertility drugs. These too failed so they went on a string of 8 reality shows. The movie takes us through the heartwarming story of how reality television destroyed their marriage.

Best Actor

Falcon Heene as The Roaming Gnome in: Rome With Me

An Action packed adventure that has the youngster exploring haunted attics all over Europe

Best Actress

Jaimee Grubbs as herself in: Bedposts and Paparazzi

I really couldn’t make anything up better than what this already is.

Best Original Song

Hoedown Throwdown by Miley Cyrus

Theme from: Jon & Tiger Plus 8 … and Counting

Best Visual Effects

Joan Rivers

Best Live Action Short Film

The Rainbow Connection as sung by Me

Well, those are a few of the movies that I think should have been made and win awards at this years Oscars. I probably won’t actually watch them so someone let me know who actually wins.

Until next time remember … It rubs the lotion on its skin. It does this whenever it is told.
