In The Home Stretch

Today is Feb 15th. The new baby is due March 17th. I have mentioned before, probably more than once, that the overwhelming feelings are setting in. The main thing is, the house. It is a disaster. I did get Tori’s new room painted, but I still have yet to get everything put back together and put away and all that. We have stuff everywhere. Not just Tori’s toys, but stuff all over. It’s not dirty and we aren’t hoarders or anything like that. We just need a good spring cleaning and then a good cleaning. We have both been pretty tired. I really need to order groceries from Peapod. At least that saves some time not schlepping to the grocery store.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVVVVVVE to hire a cleaning service to come in and give the house a real good, thorough cleaning. The problem that I have is that I would have to clean before I could have someone come in and clean. I don’t mean I would have to put things away and straighten up. I mean that I would have to CLEAN the house. I don’t think I could let someone else come in and think that we are slobs or don’t do anything. I am lazy not disgusting. I know it is there job to come in and clean. I know I shouldn’t be self conscious because I know there are people that are a million times worse. I just have issues. Many, MANY issues. I guess I will have plenty of time to clean after the baby comes when I take a few days off work when he and Mrs. Voices will be sleeping … a LOT. I will just have to make sure it is one of the days that Tori goes to day care or to grandma’s.

The recent celebrity deaths, well, Whitney Houston mainly, have brought an increase to views on my blog again this week. The odd thing is however, once again, the search terms that are causing hits to my blog, have NOT been Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Jeffrey Zaslow or any other recently deceased celebs. It is Grease, Olivia Newton-John and Sandy again. I don’t get it. I think I am just going to put those tags in my posts every day just for giggles.

I Don’t Understand The Math

This morning I looked at my blog stats, because I am vain that way. I have 28 spam comments and 16 hits. I cleared out the spam to 0. Just now I looked at my blog and I was up to 71 views today (not quite the 750 I had in one day a few weeks ago) but I had 408 spam comments. Now, I understand it is spam and all but, if they were comments, don’t you think that I would have to have views on my blog as well? I should have 400 some views not only 76. Really I would love to get back up into the numbers I was having for a few weeks but all good things come to an end. So must this blog. For tonight at least. We have a big day tomorrow. Unfortunately it is just normal shopping and not even anything fun like Christmas shopping.

Night all. And of course, I have to add this video …

The Grease Has Been Soaked Up

Apparently the fascination with all things Grease and my blog has come to an end.  For a few weeks I was getting astronomical numbers due to searches for all things Grease, including my mid year Celebrity Death watch, which was inspired by dead Grease actors. Over the last week I have gone back down to my humble number of hits to my blog. I would like to thank the spam community for the wild ride it was. I will miss the inflated sense of importance that you gave me and my ego can now fit back under my baseball cap.

On to other things. During my recent bouts of sickness, I received a lot of “get well soon”, “hope you feel better” and such other wishes of good will. I appreciate them all. It made me think though. Even with people you hate, does anyone ever say “Stay sick, I love to see you suffer!” or “Hope you are as miserable as you look!”. This doesn’t have to be for just being ill. It can be for any of the times we offer sympathy. “I am glad he is gone, he was an jerk.” or “You got in a car accident? Oh my god, I hope you got hurt!” or “It’s about time they fired your worthless ass!” Don’t get me wrong, I think it is wonderful of our society that we wish each other well and try to make others feel better in their times of grief and sorrow. I just was wondering if anyone has ever actually said what we all at one point or another wish we could.

Elmo is the child’s serpent in the garden. I am convinced that Elmo has somehow gotten Tori to join his high pitched, squeaky, furry faced cult and no one can make her happy EXCEPT Elmo. I drop her off at day care … she cries. I pick her up from day care … she cries. Then they tell me this morning that they walk her into the room where Elmo is … she settles down and starts saying “MELMO!!” I have to admit though that I prefer Elmo over Barney. At least Elmo is a Muppet and not some overweight, IQ impaired, suspected pedopheliac, unrealistically colored Tyrannosaur. Did I mention I HATE Barney?

I am watching this weeks Penn & Teller Tell A Lie on DVR, love, love, love P&T. After this episode I only have one thing to say … Purple Happiness Biscuit.

Goodnight everybody!

I Know I’m Not THAT Good

I am a little conceited. I like to check the stats on my blog every morning just to see how good I did the day before. I like to know if what I am writing is actually interesting to anyone. Most days, I am at around 200 lately. Not bad for me. My best day was a while ago at 358. I thought that was great! My biggest draw to date has been my Celebrity Death Watch Mid 2011 : The Death Wading Pool. It was my prediction and summary of Grease stars deaths. I know I mentioned this before but, this is just crazy. This morning at 10 a.m. I had like 58 views. As of the writing of this at 9:32 p.m. … 514. That is the most I have ever had in 1 day. 242 of those views were on the aforementioned post. Did someone from the cast of Grease die today and I missed it?

Don’t get me wrong, I love that I am apparently that popular. I just wish I knew if it were real so that I didn’t feel so bad about occasionally putting out an inferior product. I have to say that the postaday challenge has really stretched my mind this year, what with Tori and trying to juggle all that. I don’t think I will be posting a day next year again, especially after the new baby comes. Or maybe I will, if for no other reason than to give me a few minutes of quiet time.

Anyhoo, thanks to all that read and keep up the eye strain. I am working on some new and exciting things that will make this a much more enterta … hell … I can’t lie. I don’t have anything new up my sleeves. I will however keep writing every day until the end of the year, or I get hit by a renegade blimp.

Celebrity Death Watch Mid 2011 : The Death Wading Pool

With the recent passing of Annette Charles, Cha Cha DiGregorio, from Grease, I started to realize that the living cast is starting to dwindle. I say this as it is a “recent” movie. Granted, there are movies out there where far more of the cast has completely died; Gone With the Wind, Wizard of Oz, Ben-Hur … but those all have actors that you think of as old. At least I did. With Grease, most of the actors I grew up with. Here is who I can think of off the top of my head who has left us from Grease: (oddly enough as I am writing this, Sandra Dee just came up on my iPod. Don’t ask why I have it on there, just go with it). On to the dead greasers in no particular order:

Jeff Conaway

Eve Arden

Joan Blondell

Alice Ghostley

Dody Goldman

Lorenzo Lamas (Career only … he is still alive)

Dick Patterson

Annette Charles

Believe it or not, Sid Ceasar, Fannie Flagg and all the members of Sha Na Na are still alive.

So, in my morbid sense of celebrity death watching, I thought it would be (fun?) to predict the order of death for some of the remaining cast members. Below are some of the more “main” characters from the movie that are still with us. Leave a comment with who you think might be the next 3, 5 or heck, if you want to give the order of all that you think will kick it. I did not include Sid or Fannie as they are up there anyway and bound to go soon. Have fun.

John Travolta – Danny

Olivia Newton-John – Sandy

Stockard Channing – Rizzo

Barry Peal – Doody

Michael Tucci – Sonny

Kelly Ward – Putzie

Didi Conn – Frenchie

Jamie Donnelly – Jan

Dinah Manoff – Marty

Frankie Avalon – Teen Angel

Edd Byrnes – Vince Fontaine

Until next time, remember … “It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it’s what you do with your dancin’ shoes.”
