It’s About Time

We did it. We finally did it! It has taken us weeks of procrastination, trying to find time and juggling Tori’s needs, but we were finally able to put up our Christmas decorations today. Well, we put up limited decorations today. We put up our small tree and a few stockings, some window decorations and a door wreath. We figure this is all we really need for the next couple of years with the little people that will be around. Next year Tori will probably be a little more appreciative but her little brother won’t be still. This way, when we break out the real good stuff later, Tori will really be excited. This is my rationale and I am sticking with it.

Now, all we need to do is finish Christmas shopping. We have a whole week to get that done. PLENTY of time. I’ve always wondered what it would look like if I ended my post like the Sopranos. Is it really as effective in writing as it is on tel

We’re In The Home Stretch

We are almost through the postaday2011. I think I have done pretty well. I have enjoyed meeting a lot of new bloggers through their comments, likes and what not. I have also loved reading all their blogs. Nothing more to that, just really needed a starting point. It is getting harder to come up with topics for some reason lately. Usually I have one mental block every couple weeks. They are coming more recent lately. I think it might be because I am pretty tired lately. I am not sleeping well again because it is winter. When it is winter, Piper gets in bed with us and kicks me out of bed. Or just kicks me. She also snores really loud. For anyone who has not had a bulldog of any kind, imagine the loudest comedy snoring on television and multiply it by 10. That is Piper snoring.

Tori’s grandma watches her 3 days a week. She feeds her something called “meat sticks”. I really think we need to find a better name for them. Mini hot dogs or something. We don’t call anything that we feed Piper anything as bad as “meat sticks”.

The commercial with the deer playing Big Game Hunter amuses me even though I haven’t seen the new muppet movie yet.

Ashton Kutcher … quit advertising cameras. No matter what you do, you will always be the idiot on That 70s show  and Dude Where’s My Car. You have about as much of a chance of having a real career again as Lindsay Lohan does of doing anything tasteful no matter what Dina says.

We still haven’t put up our Christmas decorations yet. This weekend it has to be done. We also don’t know what we are going to do for Christmas cards this year. Tori with Santa would be nice.

That’s it for now. Until next time … remember … “You can’t speak Italian just because you have a mustache.”

How To Decorate For The Holidays

Posted in Holiday, How To, Nonsense with tags , , , , , , on November 13, 2011 by Bob

Here at Voices In My Brain, we are normally vehemently opposed to any Christmas decorations going up before Thanksgiving. I have done well in the past adhering to this myself. I have often times regretted my decision to wait due to the wind and cold. I feel though that those hardships are what the decorating is all about. You go outside, decorate, freeze and then come in and enjoy the fire and some hot cocoa … or bourbon.

This year, I am going to be packing to go to Vegas on Thanksgiving weekend (yes, I will pack the whole weekend … don’t judge) so today I decided that this nice warm but windy weekend would be ideal to get ahead of schedule, even if I didn’t turn on the lights.

So, in order to help all of you who are thinking of decorating early … Voiceinmybrain presents, How To Decorate For The Holidays.

1. Plan on getting up super early to get all the decorations out of the basement.

2. Look at your alarm clock, and sleep an extra 2 hours.

3. Finally get up, put on some clothes and head down to ge the decorations out of the basement.

4. Stop in the kitchen, make coffee, eat breakfast, drink coffee.

5. Watch a DRVed show from earlier in the week while you drink your coffee.

6. Go out onto the deck and stack the patio furniture that is blowing around due to the 50 m.p.h. wind gusts.

7. Go down to the basement, start pulling out the decorations, realize it is time for the baby’s nap, go upstairs and put her to bed.

8. Watch another recorded show because you don’t want to wake the baby.

9. Feed the baby when she wakes up.

10. Play with the baby while the wife does some work.

11. Realize that it is dark outside and too late to do any decorations. Order a pizza and call it a night.

12. Plan to try again next weekend.

One Man And A Baby

I made it! I survived weekend one alone with Tori. It really wasn’t as bad as I had feared. She slept a lot, and only fussed and cried for about 30 min total. We did a lot of playing and I found out that she is a fan of Baby Einstein. I will say that this kid can eat when she wants to! So overall, the weekend went pretty well. I think I am ready for the week that Jackie is going to Texas. Bring it on!

I was surprised at how much I was able to get done this weekend. A LOT of cleaning. Unfortunately though, no Christmas decorations came down. If we don’t get them taken down this week, it is going to be next Sunday as we are taking in the last weekend of the Jim Henson exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. I may have mentioned that. I am excited. Anyone who knows me knows that I will be counting down every day this week. I am sure I will let everyone know every day.

Anyway, that is about all I have today. I am pretty exhausted but I know a few of you wanted to know if I survived and I need to have a post every day. The rest of you I know are watching the Bears and could care less.

Until next time, remember … “How can something so small create so much of something so disgusting?”
