For some reason, Alex thought his was the funniest thing on earth. And everyone likes a laughing baby right?

Pssst … Over Here

Posted in Nonsense with tags , , , , on March 20, 2012 by Bob

Hey all, still alive and well over here in voices land. I know I am still working on getting some new pics of Alex. I have to say that the staying home right now is a curse and a blessing. I love being at home with the new little guy and spending time with the wife. The problem is, is that I am finding out the “to-do” list is a lot longer than it seemed when I was working. The problem with that is that everything costs money to fix. I can get some things done but … ugh. Depressing to a certain extent. Like I said, Alex makes everything worth while and I am sure that everything will work out fine. And now, some of that cuteness that is saving my sanity.

How's about a little kiss?

Watch What You Say

Posted in Music, Nonsense, Tori with tags , , , , , on February 19, 2012 by Bob

I should re-title that, “I Should Watch What I Say”. This is our first full day without a TV downstairs. Don’t get excited, we are NOT making some grand gesture by getting television out of our lives or anything like that. It is just broken. It is being fixed on Wed. The nice thing is that we played with Tori a little extra, I did a lot of cleaning and stuff, and I will have a lot of things to watch on DVR when the TV gets fixed. The bad thing is, I think my brain is wilting from actually having to think on its own. I am saying things I really shouldn’t.

The first thing was when Mrs. Voices was going to the store. I asked her to pick me up a new pack of undershirts, which I sorely needed. I told her what kind and size and she asked if I still needed the big size that I have been wearing forever even though I have lost a considerable amount of weight over the past 3 years. I told her I still did because I need the length due to my freakishly long torso (I am just about 6’2″ and I only have a 30 in. inseam). I explained that with the smaller size, they shrink and I don’t have the ability to tuck them in properly. I then proceeded to say “and you know how I like to tuck”. This was not the thing to say to a woman who never misses an episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race. Needless to say there was making fun of me involved after.

The second thing I said was when I had Tori in the kitchen with me teaching her how to cook. Yes, she LOVES to be with me when I cook. She will stand at the gate and yell “COOK!” when I am in the kitchen. Unfortunately, it was only a frozen pizza tonight. Still, she was enthralled with the process. By the time I am a drooling, slobbery, senile mess she will be ready to cook for me. But I digress. She has a bit of a runny nose, big surprise, and I tried to wipe her nose with a Kleenex. She sniffed and I said “Tori, your nose is gross, do you want me to suck it?” Now, anyone with small children will know what I meant, but in the back of my head, there was still that gross factor and image of me sucking her snotty nose.

There was one other thing that I said today, but, with my brain not being that active, I have forgotten it from the time I started writing this until now. Man, that sucks. As I recall it was pretty darn amusing. Oh well.

To make your day a little brighter, here is a video of Tori that Mrs. Voices took today. She was dancing with Elmo (Tori, not Mrs. Voices) and then decided to talk to herself in the camera. I may be biased but she is so damn cute!!

A Promise Fulfilled

First, I am going to get it out of the way. No, I didn’t have her on a list. No, I didn’t even think of putting her on a list because I didn’t think she was still relevant. She’s dead. That is my mention.

Now, onto things that actually have a bearing on my life. A while ago I talked about us going for the 3D/4D ultrasound. I promised pictures. I am putting up the one that I like.

I think he looks like me.

So Damn Cute!

We went out to dinner tonight since I still haven’t been grocery shopping. Tori ate before we went out so that she would behave. She did. At one point she was trying to get me to lift her out of her high chair but I just sat there and made faces and leaned into her and she pushed me away. This is what happened:

How To Moment Once Again

Posted in How To, Nonsense, Tori with tags , , , , , , , on October 16, 2011 by Bob

For those of you that are friends of mine, or subscribe to me on Facebook, you can guess what today’s How To moment will pertain to. Here at Voicesinmybrain we like to think we can handle anything. Today, we found out that we can handle “almost” anything. Those with delicate constitutions may want to protect themselves from this post or have a reliable partner sensor before you read.

How To Change A Baby With A Blowout

1. Walk to baby in the high chair and find out why she is crying so loud.

2. As you are walking up to baby, notice that “it” has come out everywhere (and I mean EVERYWHERE).

3. Start cursing loudly with incredulous disbelief.

4. Grab baby and lift her out of chair … carefully.

5. Run upstairs with baby and put her in the tub.

6. Turn on shower and hose her off while still in her clothes.

7. Continue running water until water runs clear.

8. Take clothes off of baby, keep rinsing baby off.

9. Call for wife to finish washing baby.

10. Wash your own clothes that got dirty.

11. Throw the high chair away.

The Best Thing I Ever Did

Posted in Tori with tags , , , , , , on October 5, 2011 by Bob

Today is an easy one to write. It is my baby girl’s first birthday. I can’t believe that a year has gone by already since we welcomed the cutest, smileyest baby into the world. Seeing her smile, hearing her giggle and getting a hug, kiss and a “da da” from her at the end of the day, makes all the daily nonsense worth it.

Happy birthday my Tori Grace! Daddy loves you!

3 Weeks And Counting

Posted in Nonsense with tags , , , , , on October 4, 2011 by Bob

In 3 short weeks we get to find out what we are having. People keep asking, I answer “a baby”. If they push, I mess with them and say “ever see V?” But in all seriousness, I am excited to find out if we are having a little boy or if I am going to get way out numbered with another girl. Either way, I won’t mind.

Today however, we did have a Dr. appointment and we got to here the heartbeat. Jackie has heard it already but this was the first visit I was able to get to. It is always so cool to hear it! It gives that little bit of reality dose since it seems so surreal that we are having another kid already.

It has been a real long week already, and it is only Tuesday. I ned to head off to bed so that I can get up early and go try to get some sponsors for my blog. I need to pay for 2 kids now so I have to see if I can commercialize a little. Yeah, it’s cheap and selling out but, these days, I think i am ok with that.

Flying The Friendly Sky

Well, we are off. We are heading to the airport to take Tori on her very first airplane trip. As I said the other day, she is teething so this will be interesting. That isn’t the part I am looking forward to the most though. I have read a lot recently about babies and the TSA. I am trying to figure out how to mess with them the best way I can.

I am contemplating giving Tori some prunes in a few minutes so that they are right through her at the proper time. They want to hand search the baby, they can get their fill. Of course I don’t want to do anything that will get me arrested or pulled out of line, but damn it would be so fun. I wish I had the guts to say things like “did you wash it all off of her?” or “QUICK! Tuck it in the diaper!” while they are about to search her, just to get them going. I am far to cowardly though to do that.

If anyone has any suggestions, I have about 45 min before I get to the security checkpoint so throw those suggestions at me. If you don’t get them until later, they would still be good for the return trip.

Oh yeah, it’s Friday and I am NOT at work!!  WOOHOO!

That’s What She Said … I Think

Posted in Nonsense, Tori with tags , , , , , , , , on February 23, 2011 by Bob

I am very glad that Jason and Grant are back on TV tonight. I need to watch a few episodes of Ghost Hunters to see if hopefully they address the issues that I am having in my home. I have a healthy respect for the afterlife and the paranormal. I don’t like to upset whatever spirits may be wandering the ethereal plane. I want them to be happy if they are stuck crossing over from this world to the next. Lately however, I am really thinking my house is haunted.

I have seen our dog looking at one spot in the room on various occasions. I thought she was watching an insect. Now though, Tori is carrying on conversations with no one in particular. It first started when Jackie went to Texas. Tori kept me up all night “talking” to someone every 20 min or so just as I was falling asleep. Now, she sits in her swing, (I am actually watching her do this as I am typing) looking at a spot on the ceiling, smiling, and occasionally “talking” and even waving a little. I know that babies will look at ceiling fans, lights and other things that will grab their attention but, there is nothing there! It is a plain white ceiling! I think it’s a ghost. I could be wrong.

I also think that my baby girl is a little creepy at times. She is at the phase when she is just making noises and “talking”. I understand this. My concern is that she seems to answer me every now and then. No … it isn’t just coincidence. I swear she is answering me because the sounds she makes are different than just normal infant gargling and bubbling. She is responding to me. She is! But it IS a little creepy. She is either possessed, a genius or some spirit is telling her what to do. Would that be the same as possessed?

There is only one other possibility that I can think of … the lack of sleep over the last 5 months is catching up to me and I am totally delusional and imagining every single bit of it.Maybe I should check the size of the Twinkie.

Until next time, remember … “Either I have a monster in my kitchen or I’m completely crazy.”
